SPRING IN FULLERTON< CA

IT'S SPRING TIME IN SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA

This rose is First Prize and I wanted to share my roses and iris's with you today.

Do you see the dew on this lovely rose looks like they have diamonds in them..

This lavender rose is one of my favorite and I can't remember the name of it, but it smells wonderful.

These are such a pretty shade of light orange and I get so many blooms from this rose.

This is such a pretty shade or orange to a light cream color in the center.

They are such a creamy white and smell so good.

Meet Lucille Ball and she does remind me of her

These roses produce so many blooms and are a terrific color.

Here are my garden helpers, always on the look out for lizards and bees

Here is Lili taking her daily sunning

This is Waldo the CEO of this household, looking to see what I am up to.

Waldo must have spotted some birds

Some of my different colored iris's

Isn't this a pretty color?  See the dew on them, looks like I sprinkled sparkles on them

Look at the veining on this iris, almost like someone painted the veins on.

Oh so soft and pretty.  They only last a couple days after they bloom - I wait for 11 months only to cherish them for such a short time.

This is my red Eden rose, so very pretty.  That plant is right next to my French Lavender bush.  My pink Eden is just now budding.

I just wanted to share with you my gardens this year.  Everything come into bloom so early due to such a warm winter.  I am really surprised since we had very little rain and we need it so baldy,  I am hoping they don't burn up this summer.  Maybe we will get some rain in April.

Waldo, the CEO, Lili, the Diva Queen (and she is a bed head in the morning) and I hoped you like our lovely roses and iris's

We just planted two flats of cottage garden flowers, so stop back again and see what's happening in SO CA.  We love to read your comments.

Mary, Waldo and Lili

  5. Wow! Everything looks so pretty! Your roses are really out-doing themselves...surprising because of such little rain.

The other day a little lizard found it's way into the house and provided Miss Twiggley with a great deal of entertainment until I could capture it and put it safely back outside.

Good luck with all of your new annuals I am sure they will be lovely.

Waldo gets so excited to go out in the morning and help me water, feed the birds and pick up stuff and if I don't go he will not leave me alone until I do. You know how Border Collies are - have to have jobs.

  14. Mary...you have such a wonderful variety of roses and each and every one is beautiful! I love iris as well, my sister planted them but I've never tried. Sun is limited in my yard so I have to plant things that I can get a lot of bang for my buck! I love your lavender bush, too. I don't think we have the right soil here.

Your pups are precious. I know they must like that sun. Mine "sense" something is in the air with me leading the way out to the yard everyday looking for sprouts and blooms. If no one is out there with them, they do their duty and then wait on the porch to come in. As long as I'm there, they will play and roll and sleep in the sun all day! :)

Can't wait to see your cottage flowers!

  20. Hi Mary, so very nice to meet you. I love your rose and iris collection. The moss growing on your path is lovely too. I am trying much the same but with creeping jenny. I have recently planted three David Austin roses and am excited and scared at the same time. It is hot and humid here and I might kill them. I have about ten pots of flowers and herbs to plan today. Isn't gardening fun? Olive

I have had no sense of smell for the last 15 years, but for some reason, my nose is working and smelling the roses in the garden is a delight. I can just imagine the aroma of your lovely garden.

Lulu is still a pain in the neck with regards to my garden so I do not have beautiful flowers in bloom. She does not bother the rose bushes so I have roses blooming, but not much else.
