FALL GARDEN

I had to share this beautiful day with you today.  When I went out to the back yard to feed the birds and do a little clean up I couldn't believe my gardens.  They were stunning!

Meet Daisy and Danny, there are in the front yard to greet you and would like you to come into the front yard to see the flowers.  This rose is Peace.

Meet Marilyn Monroe, a beautiful pale flesh colored rose.  She is next to my Tiger Tail plant, they look so pretty next to each other.

This is the red Eden rose and is a pretty deep red.

This is my frog bird bath that I purchased in Mexico many years ago.  It sets at the end of my dry creek bed.

All of these roses are English roses with many petals on them.  I like them when they have over 30 petals per rose.

This rose came from Covington, GA.  When I was a Meeting Planner we were having a show in Covington at our facility there.  I met a lovely lady from Sugar Babe's restaurant who was doing our catering.  Through the years we became friends and I used her all the time when we needed a cater.  One day I received a package in the mail. In the package was this rose bush.  It came from her home and was over a 100 years old.  She was in the process of selling her home and she wanted this rose bush to go to someone who would care for it.  I was so touched by her kindness..  It's a very soft pink small tea rose.

Can you see the Paper Whites peaking thru... They are really early this year.  My son, Shaun, gave me the bulbs many years ago for Christmas.

This is the side of the front yard.  Can you see the rabbit bench - another find in Mexico.

Aren't these a lovely color - orange with cream under coat.

Another picture of my dry creek bed.  We put this dry creek bed in because when going up to the front door  it always flooded when it rained.

This is John F Kennedy rose - it looks like blood drops on the side of the rose.  A beautiful white... It is almost ready to loose it petals, but so pretty.

Another one of my favorite roses, it's in the back yard.

As you can see all of my roses are really blooming and I hope they continue through Christmas.  I hope this brings a little sunshine to those who are having cold weather.

Hope you leave a comment as I love to read them.

Mary

    1. Thank you for your nice comments. Our nights are only in the 50's. Only had to turn heat on one morning just to take the chill off. The garden was so very pretty this morning, I just had to share.
      Have a great week.

  6. It looks beautiful! So pretty. Your roses are absolutely spectacular. This has been the most glorious autumn, I hate for it to end. I spent the day out in the garden too...taking out old annuals and laying down soil amendments for winter planting...not much fun but necessary.

    Enjoy this spectacular weather!

Your roses are simply beautiful. I don't think I can pick a favorite, but you know how much I love the red rose. The orange and the pink and the white are all so pretty too. I like the John F. Kennedy rose - I've never seen it before. That last pink rose is very pretty. Yes, I can see the rabbit bench - how cute! You must have such a peaceful time in your garden, Mary. I would love to sit there with you and have tea and just talk and talk. Thank you for sharing your roses today. They truly put a smile on my face.

  19. Hi Mary, thanks for stopping by and visiting my blog earlier. I love all the roses! They are just amazing and you are so lucky it is not cold by you. I thought that roses only bloomed in the spring, but I guess I'm wrong. It was so cold this morning only 35 degrees and then I had to walk my dog after breakfast! We both walked so fast, Lol. Take care and have a good week. Julie at julieslifestyle.blogspot.com

  26. I love your garden! I really hope to have my own garden someday. And what an interesting story about the 100+ year old rose bush. I'm glad it's still going strong. :-) To answer your question, the photos from our post were taken in Temecula Wine Country mostly at Wilson Creek (where the chocolate glasses came from) and Churon Winery. Have a great rest of the week!

    1. Thank you Yvonne, yes there is always something in bloom almost all the time. My paper white are blooming and my Calla Lily's are almost ready. I am not pruning the roses back, only a heavy deadhead. The gardeners at the Huntington Library in Pasadena/San Marino are only deadheading them. Since we do not have frost or freezing weather, they have found out that there is no need to prune way back. So I should have roses all year. Will let you know how they do.

  29. Hi Mary,

Well, your post today was very educational for me! Although I love flowers, I confess that I have much to learn regarding names, origin, interesting facts about them, etc. Today I am happy to say that I learned SO much from you, Mary! The John F. Kennedy is such a smart name for that particular rose, for obvious reasons, and what a sweet story about the rose from Covington, GA, which is my second favourite. How flattered you must have been when your friend trusted you with her precious flowers! For me, the blushing, orange-y/red roses with hints of yellow, in the last picture, are my favourite and I'm sure, their scent is subtle and sweet.

But, the most important lesson I learned from you today is the name of my delicate orange flowers that I featured in a recent post! Tiger Tail, yay!! After a few failed attempts on Google, I gave up...only to magically discover it in your beautiful and charming garden, so serendipitously!

    Thank you!

    Poppy

    1. Poppy, so glad that I could help you with one of my plants. This is the third time it has bloomed this year. the gardener cuts it back and it keep growing. They are pretty drought resistance also. Not many people have the Tiger Tail - I love it. Wish you lived closer as I would give you lots of starts. I always something blooming. Next it will be the Calla Lilies. Well I better get to bed befor I fall of this seat LOL.

Like many others, I'm blown away by your garden! John F. Kennedy is stunning and so unique. I've never heard of that one. Some of the roses remind me of peonies, my fav flower. I miss my rose garden that I had in my previous home that was sold last year, but someday hope to have another one. Now I know who to turn to for advice.

  62. Hello Mary, Gosh, how nice to meet you! I love looking at your roses; I wish I had your green thumb with those beauties, but I don't. So I will live vicariously through yours. I enjoyed seeing your chicken collection, too. They are so beautiful and your home and decorating is exquisite.

I love your garden statuary, I think they are adorable and did you notice we have the exact same patio set? We've had our cast aluminum table and chairs since the early 80's and then found another complete set at an antique store a few years ago and bought them, too. I have to find a place for them to overwinter and soon...it's cold out today. That's why your roses were such a magnet for me. Everything here is brown and waiting for a blanket of white.

It sure is nice to meet you, Mary. PS. your dogs are adorable....I have two here also, but mine are only ten pounds a piece. Hugs to you, friend!
