APRIL FLOWERS & GARDEN TOURS

On Saturday and Sunday I went on the Mary Lou Heard's Garden Tour.  It was a beautiful weekend for garden tours.  There were so many gardens to see that it is held on both days.

We only went to one on Saturday and it was  a English Country garden.  Beautiful roses, foxgloves, delphiniums, camellias and larkspurs.  In the center of the rose garden is a lovely three tiered fountain.  The hummingbirds love the  fuchsia`baskets.  A very large avocado tree and gazebo shade some of the back yard.  There is a stunning Eden climbing rose bush over the trellis in the front year.

The rest of the pictures are in the back yard.

This is Jerri Cunningham's 1916 California Craftsman home, located in Old Towne Orange.  There is a 100 year old avocado tree  planted when the house was built.  The Potager, or kitchen garden is a must see with a fresh vegetable stand and there is a lovely garden room which was added on later by Jerri..  There is also a "English Potting Shed" filled with collectibles throughout the years.
Jerri has been featured in Romantic Homes Magazine a few years ago.

Inside of Garden Shed a lot of vintage items.

This is the garden room.

Don't you just love that old desk .... and all the lovely vintage linens.

Under the avocado tree - what a great place to sit and have tea or to take a nap.

This next house once belong to a big farm and was sub-divided - the house is the original home

This is a beautiful pond cascading down and the little house to the left was the foreman's home.  The owners made a guest cottage out of it.

My camera's battery needed charging so I didn't get to take more pictures.  We toured two more gardens and I sure was pooped when we finished.

This is my black iris - it's such a deep purple that it looks black.

Well, I hope that I didn't bore you will all these pictures, but I just love seeing all the beautiful flowers in bloom.  My garden has been dead headed and waiting for new roses to appear.

I hope you enjoyed this post and will leave a comment.  We (Waldo and Lili) all love reading them.

SPRING IN FULLERTON< CA

IT'S SPRING TIME IN SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA

This rose is First Prize and I wanted to share my roses and iris's with you today.

Do you see the dew on this lovely rose looks like they have diamonds in them..

This lavender rose is one of my favorite and I can't remember the name of it, but it smells wonderful.

These are such a pretty shade of light orange and I get so many blooms from this rose.

This is such a pretty shade or orange to a light cream color in the center.

They are such a creamy white and smell so good.

Meet Lucille Ball and she does remind me of her

These roses produce so many blooms and are a terrific color.

Here are my garden helpers, always on the look out for lizards and bees

Here is Lili taking her daily sunning

This is Waldo the CEO of this household, looking to see what I am up to.

Waldo must have spotted some birds

Some of my different colored iris's

Isn't this a pretty color?  See the dew on them, looks like I sprinkled sparkles on them

Look at the veining on this iris, almost like someone painted the veins on.

Oh so soft and pretty.  They only last a couple days after they bloom - I wait for 11 months only to cherish them for such a short time.

This is my red Eden rose, so very pretty.  That plant is right next to my French Lavender bush.  My pink Eden is just now budding.

I just wanted to share with you my gardens this year.  Everything come into bloom so early due to such a warm winter.  I am really surprised since we had very little rain and we need it so baldy,  I am hoping they don't burn up this summer.  Maybe we will get some rain in April.

Waldo, the CEO, Lili, the Diva Queen (and she is a bed head in the morning) and I hoped you like our lovely roses and iris's

We just planted two flats of cottage garden flowers, so stop back again and see what's happening in SO CA.  We love to read your comments.

SPRING HAS SPRUNG

Waldo - he is getting gray over his eyes
                                                                         Lili is younger than Waldo

Spring has come to So CA.  So I thought that I would share a few of my flowers that are in bloom.  We have had such an unusual winter - no rain and very warm days.

My little helpers LOL ... Waldo loves to be in the garden with me helping and Lili, if she thinks you are going to turn the hose on she is gone.......... sitting in the living room looking out the window.  Waldo would stay out side with me all day long unless it gets too hot then he goes into the house and watches me out the window.

This is my Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow plant.  It starts out a pretty purple flower , the second day it is a lavender flower and then the third day it is white.  The smell is so wonderful and you can smell it the minute you step outside.

Sorry this picture is a little blurry.

Some of my purple iris in bloom - it's one of my favorite flowers.  The purple ones are always the first to bloom and the different color ones come next.  I have peach, brown and lavender, white, black and a very light shade of lavender.

Look at the pretty different shades of purple and the markings on the petals.

The Daisy's color goes so well with the purple iris.  I see that my flamingo is looking for bugs in the lambs ears.  I don't know why, but I just love to have a few flamingos in the yard.  Wish they were real.

One of my orchids in bloom - I have about 12 plants in all different colors and some Moth orchids.  The wind broke off a few of the spikes.

Another view of the garden with my garden angels working the soil.

This is one of my 99 cent roses in bloom - I have a few that are blooming already and the rest of my rose bushes are full of buds.  I can hardly wait to see them all in bloom.  I think the first bloom is the prettiest of the season.  What do you think?

My red camellia bush - see all the buds ready to open.  It is a double bloom.  I don't remember the name of it but I have had it about 25 years.  It is in my front yard beside my little patio.

A few of my calla lily's - have quite a few in the front yard. They are always some of the first blooms in Spring.

Some more of my iris - I always wait so long for them to bloom and it's only once a year and they are gone within a couple of days.

A view of the front of the house - my roses are ready to bloom and the lavender is in full bloom.  Smells so good when you walk up the driveway.  I can always tell when the dogs have been in the lavender and rosemary - they smell so good.

A few of my lavender bushes in the parkway.  I have the English, French and Spanish lavender.  So lovely when in bloom.

My Chicago Peace climber -we had very strong winds and it blew this branch of of the trellis.  Such a pretty color and it produces many many blooms.

I understand that we will have the Santa Ana Winds again tonight, so it should be interesting to see what damage will be done with the Devil Winds.  That's what they call the Santa Ana winds that come in off of the desert.

Hope this post has brought some Spring to you who live in cold areas.  Hopefully your Spring is just around
the corner.

I hope you will leave a comment as Waldo and I are always interested in your comments.

Mary
