MY CHRISTMAS AT MY SON'S

CHRISTMAS EVE AFTER CHURCH 2016

My son flew me up to Las Gatos, CA  to spend Christmas with him and his daughter Kelly.  We had a wonderful time.  We did so many fun things, seeing old friends and just enjoying a old fashion Christmas.

Shaun always makes a Prime Rib Dinner on Christmas or Christmas Eve depending on when we have Kelly.  This year it was Christmas Eve and Kelly had to leave by noon on Christmas Day to spend time with her mother.

Clark, Jennifer, Lexie and Lindsey after church Christmas Eve  Notice Clarks' pants, they had little Christmas Wreaths on them - we really cute.

The table ws full of munchies - Clark and Jennifers girls, Lexie and Lindsey

Everyone crowding into the kitchen to sample the goodies and have a glass of Champagne.

Kim, my son's girl friend, and she is lovely, Shaun and Jennifer sampling the Prime Rib

Clark with his two daughters

Shaun and Kelly's Christmas Tree

Shaun had no center piece, so with a little thought I put this center piece together.  Kim, his girls friend went into the back yard and cut some green branches and I went to work on a center piece.  Kelly has a collection of  Nut Crackers so I lined them up down the center of  the table with some red sparkle ribbon, but the nutcrackers were to tall so I took off the little one's from the tree and they worked fine.

Shaun had prepared the most wonderful Prime Rib with mashed potatoes, au jus, horseradish, creamed corn and Parker House light rolls.  For dessert we had home made fudge,(Pioneer Woman's recipe) and it was so good, cookies and Kelly made a bundt cake.  We had champagne, and lots of wonderful red wine.

After dinner, which I must say was wonderful, the girls started opening up some of their gifts.

Shaun and Kim watching the girls have fun.

Jennifer opening up one of her gifts.

Early Christmas Morning opening up presents before Kelly had to leave.

Can you believe the mess LOL

Kelly left to go to her mom's and Shaun and I relaxed and watched a couple of movies.  Monday I was heading home and Shaun was taking down the tree as Kim and Shaun were going Skiing in Tahoe. on Tuesday.  Kim has a condo there.  Lots of rain so that means lots and lots of snow up in the mountains. They had more snow than in the last decade, so everyone was flocking to the snow.

This was taken this morning.  I have a new room mate and she is such a creative young woman.  She made this beautiful wind chime for her space at Country Vintage in Orange.  She does terrific work and is selling them, sooooooooooo if anyone is interested let me know. Her crystals are stunning.

There's Lili photo bombing the picture.  She was wondering why we were outside in out jammies taking pictures.  LOL  Please excuse the furniture all pushed together, but with the rain I am trying to keep it dry.  Three more storms coming into tonight until Monday.

I am the Uber driver for the neighborhood (I'm not really) ,just take them to school since their parent have to be at work early-  so they don't get wet.  Just playing it back for all the help I used to get when Shaun was young.

So if you know of anyone that collects wind chimes and they are one of a kind, let me know.

Sorry to be so tardy in posting but I was tired after Christmas and then taking down the tree and getting the room ready to rent out - I just don't know where my time goes.  Guess I am getting lazy in my old age.

Have a wonderful week and I hope you will leave your comments, we love to read them.

  3. I am SOOO happy to know you have a new roommate. I worried about you being in the house there all by your lonesome. I know you will benefit from having a young creative person living there.

Those are wonderful pictures of Shaun & Kelly and his friend, Kim. She looks like a lovely person. That first picture of you and Shaun & Kelly is a keeper. You certainly are a pretty lady, Mary.

I hope you have a wonderful week and that you are all rested up after all you did over the holidays. Love to you- xo Diana

and has 4 spaces at a Antique store.

I am still very tired from all the doings, decorating and putting stuff away. This old gal isn't what she used to be LOL, but I try to keep up with the young ones.

So glad to hear from you my dear friend and I feel like I have know you for a long time.

Have a great rest of the week.

  4. What a fun post. The photo of you is so cute! I am so happy to hear that you had such a lovely holiday.

Incidentally, my son is named Sean too. Isn't that interesting.

More rain expected, it makes it hard to get anything done outside, but definitely worth the inconvenience.

    1. Thanks so much for your comments. I am sure your son is great as mine is. He sure looks after his mom and I am sure your son does too.

We did have a wondeful Christmas Eve with great friends and my granddaughter. She is taller than her grandmother LOL. But she is so sweet and helps me in and out of the SUV. Shaun doesn't even tell her to, she just goes ahead and does it. We had lots of fun baking together and she had a terrible cold also.

I hope that you had a wonderful Christmas also.

I am so enjoying the rain and I say bring it on. My roses are filling out so good, so much new growth on them..
Enjoy the rest of the week and stay dry.

  5. Mary, you had a nice celebration on Christmas Eve with all the family. That Pioneer Woman Fudge sounds delightful. I love fudge! And the prime rib sounds delicious. I didn't know you were getting your room ready to rent out. I really like the hummingbird wind chimes that your new roommate made. That's so nice that you drive some of the neighbors to school. Yes, I heard lots of rain is headed your way in So Cal. It's raining here today too, pretty hard.

Bundle up and stay warm, Mary.

    1. Thanks so much for your great comments. Christmas was great. Sherri that Fudge recipe is so easy and quick and is probably the best I have eaten and it's a no fail one. How I used to stir that fudge over the store waiting for it to get to the right temperature and then it still wouldn't set LOL. MY Kelly said grandma this is so EASY
The wind chime is so beautiful and such long crystals - she did a terrific job on it.

Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful weekend.

I love the picture too and will have to get it inlarged.

Hope you have a warmer weekend. MY flowers are dancing in the rain.

We have a lot of things in common. Sounds like your Christmas was a joyful holiday. Thank you for your comment on retirement living. My sister lives in Los Gatos, and we have granddaughters that leave on Christmas Day to be with their Dad. As I say "Just go next door." The stories are all the same these days. What wonderfully cheery pics of your Christmas vacation with your son and granddaughter! It is very evident that a good time was had by all in attendance. Kelly looks so much like her dad; what a pretty young lady she is.

So happy that you now have a roommate; you will be good for one another. She is a talented gal and I'm sure she has said the same thing about you, sweet friend, in addition to your generous and caring heart. Kudos to you for being the designated driver and getting the neighbourhood kids to school in the mornings.

Did you end up getting all that rain? I guess it must be great nourishment for your beautiful roses!

That is the only one she did with the crown - it is the most stunning windchime that I have ever seen. The crystals are so long and beautiful and reflect the light - they sparkle so much. She is asking $225, plus shipping. She is making more and I will send you pictures of them, they are all one of a kind.

Her desire is HORSES HORSES and take riding lessons 3 times a week. Has won all sorts of blue ribbons and looks so regal in her riding habit. I tell her she will take 1st place in the Olympics. She has taken up skiing lessons and is doing very well.

Thanks so much for stopping by Shirley - I did a post before this one on my Christmas decorations. Not as much I used to do - getting to old dragging the stuff out and them putting it away - it's a chore. But, I do love decorating.
